Brownfields Renaissance Application Form

Pre-Application Consultation

Prior to the submission of this Application Form, applicants are strongly encouraged to review the Brownfields Renaissance Community Improvement Plan and consult with staff of Planning Services in the Economic and Development Services Department. Early consultation can result in the identification of matters that will significantly assist in the processing of the application.

This form may contain personal information as defined under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. This information is collected under the legal authority of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001 c.25, as amended. This information will be used and maintained by the City of Oshawa. Questions regarding this collection may be directed to the City’s Information Access and Privacy Officer at 905.436.3311.

Note:

  1. Completed tax cancellation and grant applications are processed on a first come first served basis. Upon acceptance of your tax cancellation and grant application, you will be subsequently provided a committal letter advising of your eligibility for the programs subject to any terms and conditions contained in the committal letter.

  2. If you are applying for a Brownfields Study Grant, please attach a quote/proposal for the proposed work that is eligible for the grant. You may need to request your qualified consultant to separate these costs from other costs not considered eligible for the grant. Please ensure that the quote/proposal indicates the name, address, phone and contact for the consultant firm.

  3. The Council of the City of Oshawa must approve applications to participate in any program in the City of Oshawa Brownfields Renaissance Community Improvement Plan.

All applications will be administered on a first come first served bases to the limit of available funding in accordance with any administrative rules governing the Brownfields Renaissance Community Improvement Plan.

Section 7: Covenant

I/We hereby apply for a commitment under this Plan and agree to abide by the terms and conditions of the grant program(s).

I/We hereby certify that the information given herein is true, correct and complete in every respect and understand that the City reserves the right to verify any information contained herein.

I/We, the undersigned, agree that the completed improvements are subject to inspection by City of Oshawa staff and will be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the grant programs, the Building Code, Fire Code and other applicable City of Oshawa by-laws. Without limiting any of the foregoing, I/we understand that the committal may be reduced or cancelled if the work is not completed, not completed as approved, or if the contractors are not paid.

I/We acknowledge that City of Oshawa staff may visit the property that is the subject of this application for the purpose of evaluating the merits of this application. During a site visit, photographs of the property may be taken for the purpose of evaluating the application. Access to the property will be arranged by City of Oshawa staff with the applicant/agent prior to entry. 

I/We acknowledge that personal information on this form is collected under the authority of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. M.56 (“MFIPPA”) and will be used to process these applications.

Section 8: Authorization

If this application has been completed by an agent on behalf of the property owner, please answer 'yes' to the following question, review the requirements below, and sign to complete this application. 

I confirm that the property owner has been made aware of and approves this application. The undersigned acknowledges that where an agent has been identified, the municipality is authorized but not required to contact this person and that this person is authorized to act on behalf of the owner for all matters respecting the application. The undersigned agrees that the proposed work shall be done in accordance with this application and understands that the approval of this application shall not be a waiver of any of the provisions of any by-law of the City of Oshawa or legislation, including but not limited to the requirements of the Building Code and the Zoning By-law.

The undersigned acknowledges that in the event this application is approved, any departure from the conditions imposed by the Council of the City of Oshawa, Application Review Team, or Planning Services, as the case may be, or from the plans or specifications approved by the Council of the City of Oshawa, Application Review Team, or Planning Services as the case may be, is prohibited.
