Event Volunteer Application

Volunteer information:

Volunteering with the Events team is a flexible schedule. Volunteers chose which opportunities work with their schedule. The minimum commitment is assisting at three events or 12 hours per year.

Our process:

• Review applications
• Select candidates for virtual screening
• Successful candidates complete online training components and provide documentation
• Successful candidates attend an in-person 2-hour orientation
• Volunteers select their events/shifts

Volunteer Conditions:

• I understand that if selected, I must submit and pass a Criminal Information Request (Vulnerable Sector), at my own expense at the orientation.
• If selected for an interview, I must supply two (2) written non-family references, such as a teacher, coach, employer, past volunteer organization, or personal acquaintance.
• I understand that I will be obligated to complete online training and attend a mandatory orientation session before I can volunteer with the City of Oshawa.
• I accept that not all applicants will be successful.
• If placed, I agree to comply with the roles and responsibilities of my volunteer position.
• I agree to release and save harmless The City of Oshawa from and against all claims, actions and proceedings in respect of any damage(s) or injury that may arise out of, or be incurred by, or be sustained by me during the term of this Volunteer Placement.

This information is collected under the legal authority of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001 c.25, as amended. This information will be used and maintained by the City of Oshawa for deciding volunteer placement positions.
